That's a big cutting area, can you also cut smaller items?
Yes, our large bed allows us to cut a range of sizes, from small lettering and plastic parts to jet boat hulls and large ACM panels like
you see on petrol station plinths/ columns.What's the biggest size you can cut?
Our bed has a maximum cutting size of 6500mm x 1900mm. Still need something bigger? A larger format can be done in two or more parts.
Can you cut-out multiple items to the exact same size?
Because our sizing is computer generated, we can guarantee accuracy down to +/- 1.5mm over the length of the machine (with most parts within 0.1mm).
How does the router get such an accurate cutting result?
We use a Computer Aided Design (CAD) programme called Fusion 360 to ensure precise measurements.
I have a specific image I want cut and engraved; can you trace it or scan it? What is best?
However you brief us, we can translate this into our computer software and trace an image from your design before we produce it.
I have an unusual material request; can ExAxis help or advise me?
Yes, if you have any question or special request, we canusually find the answer. We are affiliated with other cutting businesses and
will be able to work on a solution for you. Simply email or call us.What computer file types can you accept?
DXF and Step files are our main file types, but we can also convert other files you may have to suit the job.
Can the router cut softer materials such as foamboard?
Yes, we can cut a range of softer materials, including foamboard, cardboard, and corflute. Send us a message with the material you’re working with, and we’ll find the right solution for you.
Can you cut material harder than aluminium?
Our CNC router handles materials as hard as aluminium, but for projects requiring stainless steel or other harder materials, we hold strong relationships with specialist waterjet cutters. Send us your requirements, and we’ll share the best solution.
Does ExAxis only work for businesses, or do you accept work from Clubs or individuals?
Our services are available to anyone (from private individuals to businesses and community groups) who require precision cutting.
What is you turnaround time and do you accept recurring work to order?
We aim to provide quotes back to you within 1-2 working days, and we will begin work on approved jobs immediately. Timeframes may vary depending on material availability and our suppliers, but we’ll keep you informed every step of the way. If your job is urgent, just let us know. We’ll do our best to find the fastest and most cost-effective solution to get it completed quickly and precisely.
Do you ship anywhere in New Zealand?
Yes, we work with a range of trusted New Zealand courier companies that deliver nationwide. Whenever possible, we use overnight services to ensure your completed job reaches you as quickly as possible.
I have an idea but not sure if it will work - do you do a prototype?
We can create a template to make sure your idea works, and can show examples of something similar we may have done in the past.
Do you charge by the sheet or by router running time?
We price each job individually, so you only pay for the material used and the actual router cutting time.
I have a timber slab I want turned into a table top but its warped and bent, can it be levelled out?
Yes, we try to get the maximum thickness from each piece.
Can ExAxis help with a design service for signage?
We can assist expanding on your original idea and can collaborate with others to bring your project to reality.
Can you fold ACM Panels?
Yes, we can cut a V groove in the ACM and ship it flat so it can be easily folded on site.
Can you cut EVA Deck Foam for boats?
Yes! We recently completed a very successful trial for a marine customer using this foam for a non-slip deck top. There are multiple uses for this type of layer, where important requirements include durability and protection.
What are your payment options?
We accept cash or EFTPOS, or if arranged beforehand, we’re happy to email an invoice for payment via internet banking. Payment terms can be discussed and will be outlined on the quote and invoice.
